As I mentioned last year, my tolerance for “Classic” Christmas music is a bit low. But I still appreciate music that draws out the spirit of the season without depressing me (looking at you, Bing) or sending me into diabetic shock. So I compiled a list of some stuff that gets me into the holiday mood without invoking any Christmas music fatigue. You can find that here:
And, in that same vein, Over the Rhine has just released their Christmas album, “Snow Angel.” You can download it for free (legitimately!) here:

I’ve only gotten one good listen in so I don’t have anything intelligent to say about it yet. But they’re magnificent artists, so I don’t expect I’ll be disappointed! And it’s free, so no risk right?
A great list, Julio! Paul Simon and Sting, especially. I’ll be giving Over The Rhine a listen, soon.
Thanks, Dale! Sorry for the late response. It’s been a busy season!
The Sting track is actually off of a whole album dedicated to winter. It’s got some specifically Christmas-themed tracks, but according to the liner notes it’s meant as more of a generic seasonal entry.
Paul Simon’s is a standalone track on an otherwise non-themes album that’s definitely worth seeking out (called So Beautiful or So What).
EDIT: My phone hosed me a couple times throughout that message, so I fixed’em.
Just drove through Over the Rhine (Cincinnati) for the first time today … and love their music, too!
Nice! Safe travels to you!
